I have received an award!

October 17, 2008

uglymugaward.jpgBrenda, at Pumpkin Patch Primitives gave me this award this morning. And she said some LOVELY things about me, you’ll have to go visit her blog to read it, I’m too embarrassed to say them about myself. 🙂

The purpose of this award -It honors “any blogger who crafts, sews, quilts – you know, makes stuff – no matter how crappy (or how good). A way to say – I like your blog, like your stuff, and I’m pretty sure you have a good sense of humor.” and was created by Megan at The Bitchy Stitcher.  (you can add ‘knits’ in that list)
So… I award this Ugly Mug to –

Becky at Whimsical Knitting – she is such as awesome woman. She turns out the most beautiful knitting patterns, she deals with chronic pain on a daily basis yet she is very cheerful, and isn’t shy about spreading cheer and encouragement. I hope to be like her one day 🙂

Joanna at Applique Today – she makes awesome things – quilts and sewn up things, framed applique, I’m always inspired when I leave her blog, and she has the silliest sense of humor.  If we lived closer to each other (and I’m sure she’s happy we don’t) I’d drop in on her way too much and drive her crazy! lol…

and Tracy at Plumcute Designs – everything she makes is right up my alley. I don’t know how she Knows exactly what I want, but she does. 🙂 She also takes the time to list her blessings and many times that has blessed me.

Thanks Brenda! 🙂

I love my mailman! and BIG NEWS

October 1, 2008

He brings me the funnest packages in the mail. The other day he brought me a package from Penny at sewtakeahike and look at this bag! It IS a bag but look at that sweet little belt around it, holding it all together… TOO CUTE! A piece of ribbon with a buttonhole and button. I’m keeping that too, for something, maybe just inspiration, but I’m keeping it.

Now… we unfold…

Can you see the ‘cotton spice magazine’ she embroidered on it? subtle, but seen. Perfect, in other words. I love this bag. Am I gushing? sorry…

Penny even put her label in it, so I can prove I have one. 🙂

Thanks for all the compliments on the new header. I’m floating on cloud nine. I’m working on Cotton Spice Creative today, where you will see much of my work and examples of what I’ll be featuring at Cotton Spice digital. Don’t be confused! 🙂

BIG NEWS: Now…where are you going to get Cotton Spice Creative? Well, not at that’s for sure! 🙂 But, today I’m going break the big news about where you can get it and other cool stuff….

Quilt Dash  This is the best new fun thing in Quilting Land since the rotary cutter. Every registered member will receive a copy of CS Creative (once it’s finished) and more. You have to go see what’s going on over there… go on, I’ll wait.Tell them Cotton Spice sent you 🙂 (always wanted to say that)

Did you register? 🙂 Now go tell your friends…

Missouri History

August 26, 2008

If you’re interested in Missouri History, check this out – Ray County Historical Society. The museum there is run by my friend Karen Bush. IF you’ve been a quilter for awhile, you’ll recognize her name as having done hand quilting for Red Wagon Designs and others. She’s a great history buff, and not only runs the museum…she makes Victorian costumes which you can rent at the museum in Ray County. She’s one of those busy, get things done people that irritate me so much. 🙂 But you know, she’s my friend and what can I say? (you all know I’m just kidding… she’s the best)

No Help for Me…

August 9, 2007

geraniums.jpgSo, remember I had to order the Spring 2007 issue of Interweave Knits? I looked in my magazine stack for it, and was sure I didn’t have it. It arrived today. I found the Spring 2007 issue of Interweave Knits in the magazine stack yesterday. What’s a girl to do?

Did you know there was a contest to design the new Iron Chef coat? I found it the other day but the deadline is tomorrow, so I guess I won’t be entering. Assuming I had an idea.

Vogue: Like what you saw on our special anniversary covers? All 10 patterns are yours for the knitting.

The garnet yarn I ordered to make my dollar and a half cardigan is out of stock. My second choice was brown, like the picture. The UPS tracking number says it should be delivered on 8-15. So long…

Back to working on the magazine…

Fun sites

August 3, 2007

geraniums.jpgWith so many places to visit on the Internet, it almost seems rare anymore to run into something truly unique. Every once in a while you find something you haven’t seen before, or really… even thought of anything like it! Like this site –

The Grocery List Collection – occasionally I’ll see someone’s forgotten or lost grocery list, in the empty cart or in an aisle, maybe on a shelf where they left it. I think they’re interesting to read. I also like to see what people have in their carts – do the foods in the cart match the person? Usually. I’m not sure I’m so interested in lost grocery lists that I’d catalogue them though. I remember writing a very specific grocery list one time, meals planned, on a very limited budget. When I got out of the car the wind grabbed my list and took it! I chased that silly thing all over the parking lot, never did retrieve it. It’s possible that list ended up on this site! Not that I’ll be looking for it.

Can you wash your down comforter at home? – It appears that you can! Shannon washed hers the other day and it turned out beautifully. I’m washing mine today, based on her success. We use a very gentle soap with tea tree oil in it, Kookaburra Wool Wash. I use this on all my wool handknit socks. It’s lovely.

Have you ever heard of a Stripe Generator? Well, I found one, and it’s kind of fun!
