The weather outside is frightening!

No white Christmas here! In fact, Friday it was 69 degrees! Today, the temp is dropping and the thunder storms are booming. We are under a tornado watch. Go figure!

We had a wonderful Christmas day. Mike made the best prime rib ever! He learned how to dry age the meat and boy was it yummy 🙂 He outdid himself in the dessert category – gingerbread trifle with lemon curd and blackberry sauce, chocolate covered peanut butter pie and chocolate cream pie.

Mikes kids gave him a flat screen TV for Christmas… is it nice or what!?!?!?! I love it. I know technically it’s his present, but I get to watch it too – 🙂 Then we got Riley a XBox 360 and the Guitar Hero and Rock Bank games… are they games? I’m not sure, but hooked up to the flat screen TV… it’s so crisp and clear.

My biggest news… Mike gave me Wild Ginger Pattern Boutique 4  I’ve been drooling over this for the past few years and I’m SO excited to get into it. I’m sewing the fitting garment now, and then we’ll see what’s next.

I gave myself a little Christmas present, with Linda Franz’s Jane Austen Collection. I’ve loved this quilt for quite some time and now I’m going to make my own! There are some directions out there for this quilt, but Linda is the first one who really took this quilt seriously. She gives us exact measurements, the templates for the diamonds – which are an odd percentage. Following her directions, you can make a Jane Austen quilt the same way Jane did. The border is made up of 2500 diamonds! And that is my project for 2009. (and possibly 2010) 🙂  I’ll share my journey with you as I print and stitch. If you haven’t tried Inklingo yet, you should! Linda has a free download on her site, so you can try it out.  Once you do it, you’ll be hooked!

I’m looking forward to 2009!

Your Christmas dinner sounds so yummy! I’m attempting a standing rib roast tomorrow for our (belated) feast… I hope it turns out so well. 🙂

What a great gift for yourself! I’ve always loved the Jane Austen quilt… should I ever finish my Dear Jane, I may have to give that one a shot! Thanks for directing me to Linda Franz’s site. Inklingo looks pretty nifty.
