Happy Anniversary to me! :)

pink-lily.jpgToday is our 3rd anniversary. 3 of the happiest years of my life.

Yesterday Brenda had a 47% off sale at the quilt shop and we went. I went on a polka dot spree… (the fabric on the bottom of the pile is a very light green and white tiny stripe, nearly looks white, but it’s a beautiful shade of pastel green.

And then I’ve had my eye on this floral fabric for a long time, so I bought the rest of the bolt –

The lavender/green stripe was just cause I liked it. 🙂 I think I’m going to make some valances for the sewing room/office with the floral.

A friend sent me a BUNCH of QNM – from the 70’s to the 90’s. It’s been so much reading the classified ads in the oldest ones. Here are a few from May 1971 –

PATCHWORK POTHOLDERS, different designs, 35 cents each or 3 for $1 postpaid. (and she gives her name with ‘Mrs.’ before it and her home address)

BE A CHARTER member in my Quilter’s Society! $1 for the first 2 years. (and her name and home address)

LOSE WEIGHT! GAIN PEP! Delicious Formula 50 cents (from the same woman who wants charter members for her Quilter’s Society)

QUILT PATTERNS: Booklet of 14 patterns, $1.50 (and her business name and home address)

ORIGINAL QUILT PATTERNS, pieced or applique. 25 cents each or 6 for $1 (again, Mrs….. and home address)

OLD FASHIONED BABY PRINTS or assorted paisley prints, 100 4 x 4″ $1.25. Book 2 “K.C. Star Patchwork”, 24 patterns plus 4 quilting designs. $1.85 each or 2 for $3.25 (this ladies first name is Mable)

QUICKEST AND EASIEST homemade bread recipe I’ve found yet, plus good calorie and nutrition chart of everyday foods that every concerned homemaker should have in her kitchen. Send $1 and stamped, self addressed envelope for each set wanted.

Oh we’ve had fun reading through these ads, and looking at the old magazines. We just don’t remember how good we have it now – with all our wonderful cotton fabrics, and at least a dozen choices for batting and a zillion books with patterns and techniques… we’ve come a long way, baby!

Comments on this post go into the quilt book drawing! Have a wonderful day!
